PURPOSE:To produce a strengthened flat optical cable, which has a high strength in the transverse direction, with a good productivity by holding plural optical fibers in parallel between two fiber-reinforced tapes which are formed preliminarily in the tape half-hardening state and sticking these two fiber-reinforced tapes to each other and hardening them completely. CONSTITUTION:Fiber-refinforced tapes 1 are led to preheating heaters 5 from both of the upper side and the lower side by guide rollers 4 and are superposed. Simultaneously, plural optical fibers 6 are led in parallel by arranging guides 7 and are inserted between upper and lower fiber-reinforced tapes 1. At this time, fiber-reinforced tapes 1 are preheated by preheating heaters 5 and can be welded. Fiber-reinforced tapes 1 are sent to a forming device 8 while interposing optical fibers 6 in parallel between them and are press-fitted to each other by heating. Thereafter, optical fibers and fiber-reinforced tapes 1 joined into one body are sent to a complete hardening device 9, and a strengthening plastic coating layer 11 is hardened completely to produce a strengthened flat optical cable 10, and this cable is wound up while being cooled. |
