PURPOSE:To decrease the wear of an element part and to prevent characteristic deterioration by providing a recess on a chip or auxiliary plate side except the part to contact with a magnetic tape to increase the adhesive strength in said part and decreasing the thickness of an adhesive layer in the contact part. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic head element 4 is formed on a substrate 8 for which a hard material such as alumina ceramics is used. The auxiliary plate 9 is adhered by the adhesive layer 10 onto said element. A resin or the like is used for the material of the adhesive layer 10 and the recess 11 is preliminarily provided to the position of the auxiliary plate 9 where said plate does not contact with the magnetic tape during tape running (outside of the region L where said plate contacts with the magnetic tape), then the auxiliary plate is adhered by the adhesive layer 10. The amt. of the adhesive agent is the same even if the thickness of the adhesive layer 10 in the part to contact with the magnetic tape is decreased; therefore, the same strength as heretofore is maintained for the strength of the adhesive layer 10. The local wear is decreased as the thickness of the adhesive layer 10 in the part to contact with the magnetic tape is smaller. The substantial detachment of the element 4 from the magnetic tape is thereby obviated and the deterioration of the characteristics prevented. |
