Wire coiling machine with two drums

The wire coiling machine (1) comprises a frame (2-4) carrying a rotating wire transfer drum (6) and a coiling drum (8) which is co-axially arranged below the drum (6) and rotates at a pre-determined speed ratio. The coiling drum has radial wings (9) at its lower end which are pivoted downwards by an actuator (28) to drop a wound coil on to a core (12) below it. A wire cutting unit (17) at the transition between the drums (6,8) comprises a cutter (19) which is carried in a housing (18) pivoted about a vertical axis and movable into contact with an anvil ring (20) on one of the drums (8) to cut the wire when a coil has been wound.
