The lock comprises a sliding lock plate in a door or frame and spring-loaded into the shut position, engaging with a hook with ram face and notch in which part of the plate fits. A mechanism locks the plate in the shut positions, and is switched on when the hook reaches its deepest point. When in the locked position it closes, independently of other switches, the circuit initiating the washing programme.
