<p>PURPOSE:To obtain a long-life thermal head capable of giving high-quality printing by forming the first protective layer with a material having a boiled nitric acid resistance and a wear resistance, and the second protective layer with a material having excellent oxidation resistance and capable of being etched by boiled nitric acid. CONSTITUTION:The first protective layer 5 of a material having a boiled nitric acid resistance and a wear resistance is formed, and the second protective layer 6 of a material having an oxidation resistance and capable of being etched by boiled nitric acid is formed on the layer 5. A recess in a heating resistor layer 3 is masked with a photolithographic technique and the second protective layer 6a is removed by boiled nitric acid to change the recessed portion on the layer 3 to a projected portion. Since the recessed portion formed by splitting a feeding layer 4 can be easily processed into a flattened or projected form, a pressure contact wit a thermal recording medium can be greatly improved, heat conductivity can thus be increased and print color density can be increased at low power.</p> |
