<p>PURPOSE:To completely remove a pigment from the surface of the matrix of a phosphor, by placing a pigment phosphor in an alkaline soln., heating and stirring the soln. to allow the pigment to peel from the phosphor, quenching the soln. and removing the supernatant on which the separated pigment is suspended. CONSTITUTION:A pigment phosphor prepd. by bonding a pigment to the surface of the matrix of a phosphor is placed in an alkaline soln. The soln. is heated and stirred to allow the pigment to peel from the phosphor and quenched. The supernatant on which the separated pigment is suspended is removed, thereby separating the matrix of the phosphor. The adoption of the quenching step in the present method brings about the solidification or semi-solidification of the binder which is in a dissolved or softened state in an alkaline soln., which deteriorates or loses the function of the binder. This prevent the pigment from rebonding. The complete removal of the pigment enables efficient reuse of the matrix of the phosphor.</p> |
