The method consists in making a wood-based material in the form of panels, plates, slabs or tiles consisting of a core and of two identical outer faces which differ only in the stage of use. The core consists of thin highly-porous plywood sheets joined together by means of a bonding material in alternate layers with the wood grains crossed. Each outer face consists of approximately five to seven plies of very hard wooden sheets, which are highly stable after drying, have good compressive, bending and impact strength and are highly elastic, joined together with the aid of a bonding material. By way of preference, the wood employed is ekki lophira. The bonding material is a thermosetting adhesive.
