The invention relates to checking for correct mounting of the contacts 6 of an electrical connector 1, that is to say checking whether all the contacts are in the insulating body 4 and whether they are axially locked and in order to store the check carried out; in order to do this, a marking support 16 is arranged, coaxially with the insulating body 4, this marking support being stressable functionally by a marking member 28 and being fitted with as many perforations 18 as there are contacts to be checked, a thrust finger 23 is engaged through each perforation 18 and this finger is applied against the corresponding contact by exerting a thrust which is as perfectly axial as possible and, simultaneously, a marking member 28 is moved in the direction of the marking support, this marking member being capable of coming into contact with the marking support and of marking the latter if the contact is suitably mounted or else the said marking member is locked at some distance away from the marking support and does not mark the latter if the contact is absent or if its mounting is defective. <IMAGE>
