The grille which is to be separated or to be cut is continuously or incrementally moved through the separating device. The thermal separation takes place for example by means of an electric arc which is produced with electrodes. The wires of the grille which lie at right angles thereto are separated from one another in this way. By means of the thermal separation, a burr-free cap-shaped structure is formed at the point of separation. Therefore, the thermal separation of the wires on the grille takes place without a mechanical separating device.
