Mechanical toothbrush comprising a body (2) carrying drive means, an arm (3) of which the first end is connected to said body, a head (4) which extends in the prolongation of said arm to the side of its second end and which defines a laterally open hollow space (5), at least one longitudinal arm (37) which extends through said arm and through said hollow (5) of said head (4), the rear end (37) of said arm (35) being rotatingly connected to said drive means and its front end (36) being carried and engaged into the radial end wall (26) of said head (4), said shaft (35) carrying, in its portion traversing the hollow space of the head, bristles forming a rotary brush (6) which extends in part outside said hollow space (5) of said head (4), the latter being mounted on the arm (3) and being displaceable or dismountable in order to disengage the front end (36) of said longitudinal shaft (35) in order to remove the latter from said arm (3), means (31) being provided to lock said head (4) on the arm (3) in mounted position.
