This method intended for assembling the ends of two metal pipes comprising collar-shaped end connections is characterised in that it firstly consists in mechanically assembling the two end connections 4, 5 leaving part of the periphery of the latter accessible, in spot- welding the lips of the two end connections in their accessible part, in withdrawing the mechanical assembly means 9, in welding the lips of the two end connections over their entire periphery, and finally in permanently mechanically assembling the two end connections.
