1. A method of mounting an usual pneumatic tyre (1) onto a wheel rim (2) having a central support ring (21) and whose seats for the tyre beads are directed radially outwardly, characterized by the following successive steps : a) swinging at least one of the beads (12 or 13) around the bead ring so as to move the bead ring axially away from the median plane of said tyre ; b) ovalizing the bead(s) in the plane of the bead ring ; c) bringing the rim (2) to the side of the tyre (1) which has a bead (12 or 13) swung towards the median plane of the tyre, with the axis of rotation of the rim perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the tyre, in a manner corresponding to the ovalization ; d) moving the rim (2) and the tyre (1) towards each other while maintaning their axes of rotation approximately perpendicular to each other, until their respective centers are almost merged ; e) turning the rim (2) around the direction perpendicular to the axes of rotation of the rim and the tyre until the axes of rotation are approximately parallel ; f) introducing one of the beads (12) into the mounting well (24) and clearing the rim flange (26) on the diametrically opposite side of the bead in a manner known per se ; g) repeating the preceding step for the other bead (13) ; h) completing the mounting by inflation of the tyre, in a manner known per se. |
