The submarine paint applicator consists of a reciprocating rotary applicator brush (1-3) which cooperates with a rotary smoothing brush (12). The applicator brush is made up of a series of tufts of bristles (1), each fed through a central channel via a radial distribution system and guided along the bristles by capillary action without the bristles having to be immersed in a chamber full of paint. - The applicator brush tufts are cylindrical in shape and are spaced evenly round an inner circle, while the smoothing brush is in a second circle round the outside of the applicator brush. The smoothing brush is fed through a central hollow shaft and radial distribution arms (3,4).
