A device for locating/detecting metal, in particular mines in desert regions, with the aid of an active metal detector/locator is specified, in which the metal detector/locator is mounted on a self-propelled land vehicle. The metal detector/locator has a coil which is a constituent of an anti-resonant circuit whose impedance variation is measured by measuring the variation in the current passing through the anti-resonant circuit.
