A circuit arrangement is proposed which is used to measure the speed of electric generators, preferably alternators in motor vehicles. The circuit arrangement comprises an evaluation circuit (17) having an upstream pulse shaper stage (15) whose input is connected to one winding termination (w) of the generator (10). The pulse shaper stage (15) contains a comparator (21) which is connected as a Schmitt trigger, the input of the pulse shaper stage (15) being connected via an RF filter (19) to the inverting input of the comparator (21) and being connected via an RC element (27) downstream of the RF filter (19) to the non-inverting input of the comparator (21). With this circuit arrangement, it is possible for evaluation circuits used in motor vehicles having spark-ignition engines and intended for speed measurements to be used even in motor vehicles having diesel engines which drive an electric generator, preferably an alternator (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
