PURPOSE:To ensure that ground contamination does not occur even in high-speed thermal transfer and clear printing can be performed even on a transfer recording paper having a low surface smoothness, by providing a surface layer constituted of a specified material on the side for making contact with the transfer recording paper. CONSTITUTION:The surface layer is constituted of a resin. The surface layer provided on a heat-fusible ink layer is transferred onto a transfer recording paper together with the ink layer when being heated by a thermal head. In this case, the surface layer prevents the ink layer and the surface of the paper from making direct contact with each other, thereby preventing ground contamination. In addition, the surface layer transferred onto the paper fills up recesses in the surface of the paper, thereby enhancing smoothness. Accordingly, even when a transfer recording paper having a low smoothness is used, printing with high quality similar to that in the case of transfer on a sealed smoothened paper can be performed. In addition, ground contamination on the transfer paper can be prevented even in high-speed thermal transfer printing, and where the surface layer is colored by adding a coloring agent thereto, an auxiliary color effect is produced by the coloring agent in combination with a coloring agent used in the ink. |
