A high-power incandescent lamp is proposed having a glass body whose external diameter is less than 40 mm and consists of soft glass; the main component of the filling gas with which the glass body is to be filled is an inert gas whose atomic weight is greater than 80 and whose thermal conductivity is less than 25 . 10<-6>cal.cm<-1>.s<-1>.degrees<-1>; the pressure of the filling gas is between 1.5 and 2.5 times or 1 and 3.5 times the atmospheric pressure, when the lamp is not switched on.
