PURPOSE:To efficiently and commonly process negative type and positive type PS plates without soln. exchange by subjecting the negative type PS plate and the positive type PS plate to a developing process in plural continuous developing zones by using plural alkaline developing solns. contg. water as an essential solvent and having substatially equal pH. CONSTITUTION:The developing soln. prepd. by incorporating an alkaline agent, org. solvent, anionic surface active agent, sulfite, etc. therein with the water as the solvent among the alkaline developing solns. contg. the water as the essential solvent is used for the negative type PS plate consisting of a diazo compd. as a photosensitive material. The content of the alkaline agent in the developing soln. compsn. is determined at the agent in the developing soln. compsn. is determined at the ratio necessary for maintaining the pH of the developing soln. at >=9. Both the negative type PS plate and the positive type PS plate are subjected to image exposure and are then passed through an automatic developing machine of a horizontal conveyance type connected with plural developing zones by which the non-image part of the photosensitive layer is removed. Since the plural developing solns. are the developing solns. having substantially equal pH, the sequence of the developing solns. to be used in the respective developing zones are selectable as desired. |
