A self-locking and captive studbolt is characterised by the separation of two threads and the studbolt shank, the thread being fitted on two thread inserts which are enclosed by the two conical attachments at the ends of the polygonal studbolt shank such that although they are axially displaceable on the bolt shank they cannot be removed. The thread insert on the screwing-in side is connected in a rotationally fixed and positively-locking manner, via a continuous internal polygon, to the polygonal studbolt shank, so that the two can be jointly screwed into the threaded hole in the braced part, and additionally has a recess which is provided with a plurality of slots on the circumference and corresponds with the conical attachment, said recess, in the braced state, being pressed radially apart by the conical attachment, and such that, here, an additional frictional fit is in consequence produced in order to lock the studbolt. The other thread insert can be rotated freely on the studbolt shank. The thread inserts can have different threads, handed differently from one another, and are at a specific distance from one another so that they can be screwed into and out of the threaded holes in the braced parts only alternately.
