The invention provides an apparatus for forming a multicolor image, comprising a photoconductive drum (10) which comprises a conductive substrate (11), and a photoconductive layer (12) and a transparent insulating layer (13), a first charger (14) to perform primary charging, a first light source (15) to expose the entire surface of the photoconductive drum (10), a second charger (16) to secondarily charge the transparent insulating layer (13) at the second polarity, a second light source (17, 18, 19, 20, 21) to emit light, an amount of which is controlled to have two levels in accordance with first and second color image data, a first developing unit (22) to develop the first color image, a third light source (23, 25) to perform a second entire-surface exposure of the photoconductive drum (10), and a second developing unit (24, 26) to develop the second color image. |
