NON-INVASIVE CARDIAC OUTPUT DETERMINATION AND APPARATUS

A cardiac output monitor has a first sensor (11, 12) placed on the subject's chest to provide electrocardiographic signals to sensor circuitry (15) which selects, clips and shapes the R wave to a synchronizing and timing pulse. A second sensor for the monitor provides blood flow data from a pair of sensing electrodes (20, 21) driven by a constant current source (24) through driving electrodes (18, 19) to a voltmeter (27). The synchronizing and timing pulse and the blood flow data from the voltmeter are applied to a processor (17) which provides output signals for the display (30) and record (32) devices. Other sensors may be used for blood flow data in place of the driven electrode system.
