<p>An automatic lathe with two parallel working spindles (12a, 12b), possessing on a common base (14) three cross-slides (20a, 20b, 20c) with different longitudinal slides (24a, 24b, 24c) the two outer slides operating with only one spindle. The central cross-slide (20c) with its longitudinal slide (24a) and the tools mounted thereon can be used with the two working spindles (12a, 12b). The central slide (20c) is driven by a separate shaft (34c) located in an additional groove-shaped channel in the slide, which is in the form of a guide beam. The arrangement of the third slide (20c) avoids dead time in either of the working spindles (12a or 12b) and reduces total machining time.</p> |
