<p>Implanted blood pump (11) with power generated externally of the body by power supply (25) which is connected to transformer driver (23) to energize the external primary coil (17), inducing a field in implanted secondary coil (21). A tertiary winding (27) is coupled to the secondary coil by toroidal core (29) for providing energy to regulator (31) to power the pump (11). Control and monitor telemetry is provided by monitor and control (38), external telemetry circuitry (37) and pickoff coil (41) and the internal telemetry circuitry (35) and pickoff coil (39). An implanted stand by battery (33) is provided for emergency operation of pump (11).</p> |
