The invention relates to a method for making longitudinal knots during the tying of bundles, trusses or the like with tying wire, according to which the front wire end of the tying wire is fed in a directionally stable manner to a knot maker by means of a guide nozzle at the end of a wire guide, is introduced, separately from the parallel wire strand or subsequent rear wire end, into a knot-maker twisting channel, assigned to the front wire end, transversely to the channel axis and, after leaving the twisting channel or knot maker, is firmly clamped. This achieves an exact parallel position of the two wire ends in the twisting channel of the knot maker which can grasp and twist these wire ends perfectly. There is therefore no possibility of faulty ties. <IMAGE>
