Corrosion-resistant coatings for metals which employ thickened alkaline earth complexes. This invention is an improvement in which a thermoplastic polymer is incorporated in the alkaline earth metal complex composition to provide improved properties. Polymers of polymeric fat acids are preferred with polyamides thereof being most preferred. The corrosion-resistant coating composition is particularly useful with ferrous metals, galvanized aluminum or magnesium surfaces, especially those in the nature of undercoats for automotive bodies, coatings for structural metals such as automotive frames and the like.
