PRODUCTION OF COLOR FILTER

PURPOSE:To simplify production and to eliminate the need for an intricate resist-printing stage so as to shorten a production process by providing a material to be dyed to a prescribed pattern at the points of a substrate where color filters are to be attached and producing the color filters by one time of coating of the photosensitive material to be dyed. CONSTITUTION:The photosensitive material 2 to be dyed is coated on the glass substrate 1 and only the parts to be provided with the color filters are exposed and developed. The unexposed parts are dissolved away to form the material 2 of the prescribed pattern including all the colors of the color filters. The entire surface of such material 2 is immersed into a blue coating compd. bath for the 1st color and is dyed blue; thereafter a reserve-printing resist 4 is coated thereto. the resist-printing resist in the parts where the blue color is made to remain is exposed and developed to dissolve away the unexposed reserve- printing resist. The multi-color filters are obtd. by executing the process for the 2nd and subsequent colors in the above-mentioned manner. Since the coating of the costly material 2 to be dyed is required just once, the production is simplified and the need for the intricate resist-printing stage is eliminated. The production process is thus shortened.
