摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly restore the charged site of a toner after ionic dissociation to the rechargeable original state by incorporating an acidic material having a skeleton similar to that of a material which contributes to charging the toner, soluble in a carrier fluid and having a low molecular weight. SOLUTION: A toner is dispersed in an electric insulating carrier fluid and an acidic material having a skeleton similar to that of a material which contributes toward charging the toner, soluble in the carrier fluid and having a low molecular weight is incorporated to obtain the objective electrophotographic liquid developer. The charged site of the surface of the toner is neutralized after ionic dissociation with a counter ion derived from the acidic material and the toner is restored to the rechargeable state. The acidic material has high mobility because of its low molecular weight and can rapidly neutralize the charged site. Since the acidic material has a skeleton similar to that of the material contained in the developer, the state of the charged site varies hardly before and after ionic dissociation and the charged state is restored to a state close to that before ionic dissociation. Thus high chargeability of the toner is retained, the lowering of image quality is suppressed even after repeated image formation and high printing durability is ensured.
