PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transfer belt having an imaging face excellent in transfer performance to be mounted on a transfer type ink jet printer or a thermal transfer printer using a thermally fusible ink. SOLUTION: The transfer belt 20 has two layer structure of a 20-50 μm thick metal layer 21 of stainless steel, aluminum, nickel, copper, or the like, forming the outer surface serving as an imaging surface, and a 25-200 μm thick resin layer (elastic layer) 22 of polyimide, polyethylene terephrhalate, or the like, excellent in elasticity as compared with the metal layer 21. When the outer surface of the transfer belt 20 serving as an imaging surface is formed of a metallic material having high thermal conductivity, hot melt ink being quenched and solidified upon touching the imaging surface elastically causes deformation, e.g. warping, through thermal shrinkage to decrease adhesion of ink to the imaging surface thus ensuring good transfer performance. |
