PURPOSE:To obtain the coil pattern of a highly reliable thin film head by making the width of a coil conductor formed over a step part larger than in the vicinity. CONSTITUTION:The conductor 1 of the coil is formed by bridging a lower magnetic pole 2 and a substrate 3. The width W1 of the conductor pattern formed on the pattern end part of the lower magnetic pole 2 is larger than the width W3 of the conductor pattern formed on the lower magnetic pole 2 in the vicinity of the former pattern, that is, on the step, and the width W2 of the conductor pattern formed on the near substrate 3, that is, under the step. Thus concentration of stress is relaxed, and accordingly disconnection and resistance fluctuation can be prevented. |
