PURPOSE:To log on correctly and automatically even when the same starting character string is contained in a received character string plural times by adding a timer part and a comparative value storage part which is stored with a clocking comparative value newly to an automatic log-on function. CONSTITUTION:A discrimination part 3 outputs a coincidence signal to a control part 8 when an input from a reception part 4 coincides with the starting character string of a starting character string storage part 1. Consequently, the control part 8 while initializing the timer part 6 instructs the start of clocking and also compares the clocked value of the timer part 6 with a clocking comparative value set previously in the comparing and storage part 7. The control part 8 initializes the timer part 6 every time an output is detected during reception. Consequently, transmission is placed in a wait state as long as the clocked timer of the timer part 6 does no reach the comparative value and reception is carried on. When the transmission from a host stops, the clocked value of the timer part 6 is updated one after another and when the value reaches the comparative value in the storage part 7, the control part 8 transmits a character string for answering corresponding to the received starting character string.
