PURPOSE:To restrain lower the pressure increase in the inner container at the time of superconductive breakdown and to prevent the inner container from damaging by a method wherein the device is provided with a cover having a small hole and a large hole at the upper part and the lower part with gaps in the outer periphery of the superconductive winding. CONSTITUTION:In case a superconductive breakdown is caused in a superconductive winding 3, the electrical energy which the superconductive winding 3 holds, is converted into a thermal energy. Liquid helium 2 is heated and sharply boils with the rapid temperature rise of the superconductive winding 3 and a large amount of helium gas generates in a gap A. As this helium gas is not bled up only through a small hole 12, the pressure in the gap A increases, the liquid helium 2 in the gap A is pushed out through a large hole 13 by the pressure and the liquid level of the liquid helium 2 in the gap A lowers. Accordingly the area where the superconductive wiring 3 and the liquid helium 2 come into contact to each other reduces and the area of heat to be transferred to the liquid helium 2 the superconductive wiring 3 also becomes smaller. As a result, the gasifying rate of the liquid helium 2 reduces and the pressure increase in an inner container 1 can be retained lower. |
