PURPOSE:To obtain an FRP molding improved in surface smoothness, dimension al stability, mechanical strength, sliding property, etc., by mixing a plastic material with a ceramic fiber having a fiber length controlled by press grinding and molding the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A ceramic fiber filler having a controlled fiber length is pre pared by grinding a ceramic fiber with a press. 5-60wt% ceramic fiber filler is mixed with the balance of a plastic material, and the mixture is molded. It is preferable that most of the fibers have thicknesses distributed within the range of 0.1-4.0mu because the finer they are, the more the surface smoothness and sliding property can be improved when they are used as a filler for a plas tic. The length of the ceramic fiber influences greatly the mechanical strength of a plastic in such a way that the strength can be improved more when it is larger but uniform miscibility with a plastic and dispersibility in it are de creased when it is excessively large. Therefore, it is preferable that the length is 500mu or below. |
