Method for marking the wrapper of a smoking product, in particular the wrapper paper of a cigarette. The said wrapper is made of or contains a substance which causes or undergoes a permanent colour change on application of heat. The said wrapper and a heated member are brought into contact under pressure, and the heat brought to the product generates the said colour change in a filter wrapper, and heat and pressure create an imprint in the wrapper.
