PURPOSE:To obtain a bright display by placing a transparent plate which forms a reflecting surface for reflecting an incident light from a side direction, to the display surface side of a liquid crystal display device, on the front side of the liquid crystal display device, and placing a light source at the side of the transparent plate. CONSTITUTION:In the sectional drawing of a liquid crystal display device shown in the figure, a liquid crystal display device 2 is the device of TN type, and on the reverse side, a reflecting plate 3 having a high reflection efficiency is provided. Also, on the side of the liquid crystal display device 2, the light source 1 of a fluorescent lamp is provided, and its light is brought to the light distribution so that a surface reflection is executed by a transparent plate A in the direction of the liquid crystal display device 2. The reflecting surface A' of the transparent plate A is shaped like a curved surface so that an incident light from the light source 1 is reflected to the display surface side of the liquid crystal display device 2, and also in order to increase the surface reflection, a transparent film having a high refractive index, such as an indium oxide film, etc. is formed. |
