PURPOSE:To make operation of copying work easy by setting an original shifting mode when an original insertion detecting device detected insertion of an original, and setting an optical system shifting mode when an original placing detecting device detected placing of an original automatically. CONSTITUTION:An original detecting sensor 25 provided in the lower part of the tip of an original placing position of an original platen 4 detects whether the original is placed or not. When an original detecting switch 22 detects insertion of the original to an original carrying device 61, a mirror base 17 on which an optical system is fixed moves back and forth horizontally in the direction of arrow marks A, B from the home position 17' on the lower face of the platen 4 in the case of an optical system shifting mode, and scans the picture of the original by irradiation of light from a light source 55. On the other hand, in an original shifting mode, when the switch 22 detected insertion of an original, the inserted original is carried in the direction of arrow mark D by rotation of rotary belts 12, 13 and irradiated by light from the light source 55. After lapse of a specified time after the rear end of the original passed the position of an optical sensor 15, operation of belts 12, 13 is stopped. Then, the belts are carried in opposite direction, and the front end of the original is detected by the sensor 15, and running is stopped. |
