PURPOSE:To decrease magnetic resistance and to improve recording and reproducing efficiency by constituting the titled head in such a manner that the surface of the 2nd core half for oppositely contacting with a magnetic medium acts as a return pass part and that the return pass part is in proximity to a main magnetic pole. CONSTITUTION:This head is constituted of a magnetic core part 6, the 1st core half 4 which is joined with a non-magnetic core part 5 to constitute a surface S for facing the medium on one surface and has a winding hole 9 at the joint boundary thereof and the 2nd core half 21 consisting of a U-shaped magnetic material 22. The main magnetic pole 2 consisting of a thin soft magnetic film is held between the 1st and 2nd core halves 4 and 21 so as to be substantially spaced from the 2nd core half 21 on the surfaces of the winding holes 9 and 24 on the side S for facing the medium. The winding is formed around the main magnetic pole 2 through the holes 9 and 24. The surface S of such 2nd core half 21 acts as the return pass part R. Since the return pass part R is in proximity to the main magnetic pole 2, the length of the part where the magnetic medium acts as a magnetic path is shortened. The magnetic resistance is thereby made smaller and the recording and reproducing efficiency is made higher. |
