The apparatus for slipping on valve bags is designed so that no parts project into the range of movement of the slipped-on bags. Transport takes place by means of an intermittently driven conveyor belt (1) and conveying rollers (6) pressed against this conveyor belt. In the apparatus according to the invention, the separated bag, with unopened valve, is transported into the station, from which the bag is slipped onto the filling connection by being called up. This station is the so-called waiting station. In this station, the valve is opened by horizontally movable suckers, there being provided above the upper bag edge a roof-shaped guide track (19) which is lowered in order to open the valve. The movements of the suckers (9, 10) and of the roof-shaped guide track (19) for opening the valve (17) are achieved by means of a common piston/cylinder unit (21). The remaining movements of the suckers (9, 10) are obtained by further piston/cylinder units (15, 16) via parallel guide linkages (13, 14). Since the waiting and opening stations now form a constructional unit, the valve (17) is opened only immediately before slipping on, so that the risk of unintentional closing is eliminated. <IMAGE>
