PURPOSE:To improve atomizing characteristic, by permitting a valve of a valve stem to leave a valve seat for opening thin holes so that fuel from a fuel storage chamber is atomized and injected by steam from a steam chamber in a steam type injection valve of a diesel engine, the fuel sump and the steam chamber being separately formed each other. CONSTITUTION:When a cam turns to cause a valve steam 2 to lift, a valve 33 leaves a valve seat 34 and steam in a steam chamber 3 in injected toward a nozzle 35. On the other hand, fuel in a fuel storage chamber 4 is pushed out from this holes 7... into a jet steam stream through a passage 5 to be mixed and atomized and it is injected into a combustion chamber 21 through the nozzle 35. Since the steam chamber 3 and the fuel storage chamber 4 are separately formed each other, the steam does not contact the fuel until the valve seat 34 opens, the steam does not change to waterdrop and the fuel does not change in quality, whereby atomizing characteristic is improved and excellent combustion performance is obtained.
