In a method for scattering spreading material for soil treatment, especially fertilisers, by means of a mobile spreading appliance, in which the spreading material is fed to a spreading device from a supply container provided on the spreading appliance, a flexible transport container (16) closed on all sides and having its own outflow connection (18) in the soil is used as a supply container, and the spreading material is introduced directly into the spreading device (2, 7) from the outflow connection (18). On the mobile spreading appliance proposed for this purpose, there is arranged on the undercarriage (1) of the spreading device (2) a supporting device, to the supporting elements (10) of which a flexible transport container (16) closed on all sides can be releasably fastened, at its end facing away from its outflow connection (18), above the spreading device (2), in such a way that, in the operating position, its outflow connection (18) opens into the inflow (7) of the spreading device (2). <IMAGE>
