Fastening element for osteosynthesis

The invention relates to a fastening element for osteosynthesis, especially for fixation of bone fragments via a support plate. The fastening element comprises a dowel sleeve and a screw engaging in the dowel sleeve. The dowel sleeve is made of a viscoplastic, tissue-compatible plastic and its outer surface is provided with a screw thread starting at the front end and extending over about two thirds of its length. Furthermore, the dowel sleeve has a slot which also starts at its front end and extends over part of its length. The diameter of the rear part-section of the inner bore of the dowel sleeve is slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the screw thread, and the diameter of the front part-section is smaller than the core diameter of the screw. Moreover, the rear end of the dowel sleeve is provided with a hexagon socket.
