A protective container (10) which accommodates a house connection shut-off valve (16) and a control box (18), which are both connected to a low-pressure waste water pipe (42). The protective container (10) has a height sufficient for it to extend approximately from the surface of the ground down to a depth which is secure from frost in the installed condition. The part of the control box on which connections (36, 48) to water pipes (28, 40) are arranged is situated in the frost-proof region. Because, however, the control box (18) must be easily accessible from above for repair and maintenance, special means, in the simplest case an elongated flexible tube (48), are provided in addition, which also maintain the connection from the low-pressure waste water pipe (40, 42) to the control box even when the latter is raised. A further special feature takes the form of a throttling aperture (44) which is situated upstream of the shut-off valve (16) and is open to the outside atmosphere. <IMAGE>
