PURPOSE:To form a hard coating layer of WC without spoiling a base body by thermally spraying the WC formed by decomposing a reactive gas by a laser beam to liberate C and to melt W so as to react with C in a reaction chamber onto the surface of the base body. CONSTITUTION:A C liberatable gas such as methane and an inert gas such as Ar are respectively introduced through a reactive gas introducing port 2 and a partial pressure regulating gas introducing port 3 into the reaction chamber 1 and are decomposed in a laser beam irradiation zone 9 formed by condensing the laser beam 8 irradiated to the inside of the reaction chamber by a condenser lens 6. On the other hand, a W wire supplied from a W introducing nozzle 5 is melted. The formed free C and molten W are brought into reaction to form the WC. The gaseous flow contg. the WC particles formed in the above-mentioned manner is led from a gas injection nozzle 4 to the outside of the reaction chamber 1 and is thermally sprayed onto the surface of the base body A to form a WC coating layer 12. The member coated with the hard coating layer of the WC having the excellent adhesiveness and wear resistance is thus obtd. Without spoiling the characteristics of the above-mentioned base body A and without the generation of thermal deformation, etc. |
