The pantograph contact pan includes parallel contact strips 1 extending, in use, transverse to the direction of travel and contacting a contact wire. So that reliable operation is ensured even at high traveling speeds of over 350 km/h, connecting elements 7 are arranged between the contact strips 1. The arrangement is such that it acts to minimize lift forces acting on the pan to prevent extreme loading which would cause either greater contact pressure (rapid wear on contacts) or pantograph pan/contact wire separation. The arrangement also reduces air-flow induced oscillations. <IMAGE>
