PURPOSE:To restrain an ink transferred onto a recording paper from being transferred back to a transfer paper when releasing the transfer paper from the recording paper and prevent printing characteristics from being degraded, by releasing the transfer paper from the recording paper after a predetermined lapse of time from the start of transfer printing. CONSTITUTION:Since a take-up roller 2 is in a stopped condition, until stage (b), the transfer paper 3 and the recording paper 5 in close contact with each other are fed only from the side of a payout roller 1, and no force is exerted on the paper 3 in the direction for releasing the paper 3 from the paper 5, so that the paper 3 is not released from the paper 5. From stage (b) to stage (c) at which transfer printing on the paper 5 is completed, although the take-up roller 2 is stopped instead of rotated in the direction for taking up the transfer paper, a platen roller 4 is rotated in the direction of arrow A, so that the transfer paper 3 is gradually released from the recording paper 5, starting from a leading end part of the paper 5, at a speed of about one half of the rotating speed of the platen roller 4, with the releasing direction so set that the paper 3 is bent back by 180 deg.C when being released. |
