PURPOSE:To form a space for disposition of ancillary equipment for rolling, etc. around each driving shaft of upper and lower work rolls by extending the driving shafts from the respective roll end faces on the opposite sides with respect to the center of a rolling mill and connecting driving machines to the respective driving shafts. CONSTITUTION:The 1st upper and lower driving shafts 24, 25 coupled to each of the upper and lower work rolls 22, 23 of the small-sized rolling mill are extended and constituted on the opposite sides with respect to the center CL of the rolling mill 21. The rotating force of a motor 26 is transmitted via a split transmission device 28 consisting of three grears to the 2nd upper and 3rd lower driving shafts 29, 30. The rotating force of the shaft 30 is transmitted via a reverse transmission device 31 consisting of two gears to the 2nd lower driving shaft 32. The respective rotating forces of the shafts 29, 30 are transmitted vial ball joints 33, 34 to the shafts 24, 25. Instruments for measuring rolling conditions including torque detectors 37, 39, slip rings 38, 40, etc. are disposed to at least one of the shafts 24, 25 if necessary. |
