PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the stability of ink jet head, by a method wherein the cleaning unit of water spray system is established at a position opposing to an ink jet unit and the stains on the surface of a head nozzle is cleaned every time the recording is finished. CONSTITUTION:When an ink jet unit 10 is stopped, a cleaning housing drive mechanism 134 is operated and a cleaning housing 131 is forced to an ink jet unit 10. After several seconds, the pump of a feed water tank is operated for a fixed time, cleaning water being sprayed onto a head 101 via a feed water piping, and a cleaning nozzle 132 and the stains due to the ink mist adhered to the surface of a head nozzle and the surroundings of head are washed out. Most cleaning water sprayed onto the head 101 enters into the cleaning housing 131 via a draining member 133 to be discharged from a drain 20. Other cleaning water is discharged into a drainage receiver 17 flushing the front of the ink jet unit 10. |
