Process for producing folding strips on thermoformable foam webs or mats and foam webs or mats produced according to the process

A process for producing folding strips on thermoformable foam webs or mats is described. In order to produce these folding strips, a strip of the foam web or mat is pressed by means of a pressing tool and a part of this strip is briefly heated until it is thermoformable. The pressed strip is laterally wider than the heated part of the strip. The invention further relates to foldable mats of cross-linked polyethylene foam produced according to this process.
