PURPOSE:To allow the polymerization of a self-adhesive polymer to proceed in good yields and obtain a self-adhesive polymer of reduced adhesiveness, by using an apparatus whose area coming into contact with a monomer solution is coated with a fluorine-containing copolymer resin and polymerizing a solution of the polymerizable monomer therein by irradiation with ultraviolet rays. CONSTITUTION:In the production of a polymer or copolymer having self-adhesiveness or adhesiveness, use is made of a polymerization apparatus whose area coming into contact with a solution of a polymerizable monomer having an unsaturated double bond is coated with or fitted with a fluorine-containing copolymer resin having a metallized back surface. This polymerizable monomer solution is polymerized by irradiation with ultraviolet rays. Alternatively, a movable support such as an endless belt is coated or fitted with a fluorine-containing copolymer resin having a metallized back surface. An aqueous monomer solution containing a photopolymerization initiator is continuously fed in the form a thin layer and irradiated with ultraviolet rays from the top, and the obtained polymer is continuously peeled from the support to obtain a self-adhesive polymer.
