Antistatic agents for synthetic fibers comprise as an antistatic component at least one quaternary ammonium alkyl phosphate of a specific type and contain 1 weight percent or less of alkali metall halides. The quaternary ammonium alkyl phosphates of the present invention are preferably used in combination with an alkyl phosphate type antistatic agent when they have improved antistatic characteristics both in high and low humidity conditions, reduced amount of deposits, reduced yellowing as a result of heat treatment and reduced generation of corrosion, they also enable good coiling forms to be obtained.
