NEW MATERIAL:Naphthoquinone compounds of formula I , wherein X, Y, are each SO, SO2. EXAPLE:15,16-Disulfinyl- 5,10-dithia- 6,9-diketo-5(H),6(H),9(H),10(H)-naphtho[ 2,3a] benzo[C]-anthracene. USE:Dye materials which are useful for electronic equipment in particular and excellent as a permanent recording type of medium material. PREPARATION:2,3-Dichloronaphthazarin is dissolved in ethanol (soln. A). KOH is dissolved in ethanol and 0-aminothiophenol is added thereto to convert it into its K salt (soln. B). The soln. A is added to the soln. B to precipitate a crystal, thus obtaining 5,8-bisanilino-6,2',7,2''-dithio-1,4-naphthoquinone(V). This compd. (V) is reacted with a hydrogen peroxide soln. The reaction product is chromatographed on a silica gel column eluting with chloroform to obtain the compds. of formulae II, III and IV.
